Shashank Agarwal

UI/UX Tech Architect · Lead Frontend Engineer

I build accessible, high-performance frontends with React, React Native, and SolidJS— with a strong bias toward clear requirements, solid tests, and thoughtful architecture.

Profile

I am a UI/UX-minded frontend lead with more than 13 years building web and mobile product interfaces. In every role I have taken, I dig into requirements early, plan features carefully, negotiate API contracts with backend partners, and question the brief when a better scope or experience is possible. Day to day I care most about frontend architecture, design systems, and performance—and on reinforcing code standards through timely code reviews and mentorship.

At Webbee GmbH I lead React and React Native work across Butlerapp (bookings manager and CRM)—including embeds on 200+ websites—and TaylorDb (AI app builder).

Lead Frontend Engineer · Webbee GmbH

Aug 2020 – Present

Minsk, Belarus

I own frontend architecture and delivery for Butlerapp (bookings manager and CRM) and TaylorDb (AI app builder). The timeline below follows how that work evolved.

  1. Butlerapp Booking Form

    React 16 · TypeScript · UX architecture

    • Rebuilt the legacy booking forms as a modern React and TypeScript application that continued to talk to the existing PHP APIs.
    • Designed and shipped an event cart that worked cleanly on top of the data we already had, rather than forcing a backend rewrite.
  2. SchnellTestButler

React Native · Expo · NativeBase · UX architecture

    • Extended Butlerapp with scheduling flows suited to high-volume COVID testing, covering bookings, queue timing, and result handoff.
    • Built a React Native field app with QR check-in and multi-account access; at peak it was in use at more than 1,500 test centers across Germany.
    • Released the app on both the App Store and Google Play.
  3. Butlerapp Dashboard — React Native migration

React Native · Expo · NativeBase

    • Migrated the class-based React Butlerapp Dashboard to a hybrid React Native app on Expo and NativeBase, and gave the product a full UX overhaul along the way.
    • Designed and built a view system from scratch so operators could save filters, sorting, and layout as reusable views, and made the interface fully responsive.
    • Adopted Autodesk BaseTable to give operators a noticeably faster table experience on large data sets.
    • Reworked filters into filter chips with a ranking model that surfaces the most-used filters first.
    • Added dashboard customization so each customer could match the product to their own branding.
  4. TaylorDb — AI App Builder

React Native · GraphQL · WebSockets · Client-side data layer

    • Led TaylorDb for about two and a half years as it evolved from an app builder into an Airtable-like data product and, eventually, an AI app builder.
    • Treated the client as a local database: all product data arrived over GraphQL on WebSockets rather than REST, so I built a dedicated data-loading layer and a subscription system that kept local state in sync while navigating race conditions as events streamed in. A local-first cache let people start working immediately, with live data filling in over subscriptions as it arrived.
    • Onboarded mid-level engineers and mentored them until they could operate as independent seniors.
    • Compared the React Native component libraries available at the time, then designed and built a greenfield library— react-native-molecules (npm)—to serve as the shared UI foundation across products.
  5. Butlerapp Dashboard — upgrades & grid system

    React Native · Widget systems

    • Came back to Butlerapp Dashboard for a major upgrade cycle, including a responsive grid builder and a set of widgets driven by the backend.
    • Implemented self-onboarding so logged-in users could reach value without relying on hand-held setup.
    • Onboarded a junior developer, mentored them through day-to-day delivery, and ran thorough code reviews so quality stayed high as the team moved faster.
    • Currently working on the mobile app for this product surface.
  6. Butlerapp Booking Form — React 19 & embed platform

    React 19 · TypeScript · Embeddable widgets · Cross-site integration

    • Re-architected Butlerapp Booking Form around React 19 so the codebase could absorb future change cleanly, and integrated the form into Butlerapp Dashboard so operators work in one continuous experience.
    • The form now runs on more than 200 websites and brings in thousands of bookings each month. It can open on any page that loads the booking scripts, not only a dedicated integration page.
    • Built offering widgets that sit around the form—calendar, offer card, accordion, table, and user login—so host sites can present inventory in the shape they need.

UX Lead · Zycus India Pvt. Ltd.

Jan 2018 – Jul 2020

Mumbai, India · React · Angular 8

Zycus builds a leading source-to-pay platform for procurement. I led frontend work across product modules, pushed modernisation off legacy stacks, and managed a team of frontend engineers.

  • Built React plugins that replaced Flash and ActionScript in proprietary internal tools, which made those surfaces easier to maintain and usable in modern browsers.
  • Took over CRMS and iAnalyse when they still lived on separate stacks—one a PHP service with a jQuery/PHP front end, the other a Java service with a jQuery/Java front end. I led the frontend rewrite of both onto Angular 8 as Zycus standardized on one UX platform across the company.
  • Built a COVID spend analysis dashboard that compared a company's costs with industry peers so procurement teams could spot outliers quickly. We took the idea from a two-day hackathon POC to production in about a week.
  • Built a spend dashboard with responsive Highcharts visualizations so teams could explore cost data on desktop and smaller screens without losing the chart experience.
  • Designed and implemented a custom pivot table from scratch for iAnalyse, shaped around that product's analysis needs rather than a generic third-party grid. It supported drag-and-drop layout of multiple dimensions and measures on both axes, plus nested groups with collapsible rows.
  • Mentored a team of five frontend developers, ran regular code reviews to keep quality consistent, and involved them in technical design and sprint planning so ownership sat with the team, not only with me.

Key modules: proprietary reporting and data analysis, COVID spend analysis dashboard, spend dashboard (Highcharts), custom pivot table for iAnalyse

Software Engineer II · Omnichanneler Technologies Pvt. Ltd.

Apr 2017 – Nov 2017

Bangalore, India · React · Backbone.js

Product startup building point-of-sale and multi-channel inventory tools for retailers who sell both online and offline.

  • Maintained and extended a Backbone.js frontend, wiring new feature APIs into a responsive web UI under tight release deadlines.
  • Built a B2B POS flow so retailers could accept bulk-volume B2B orders instead of handling them only as one-off retail sales.
  • Integrated QuickBooks and Tally ERP onboarding workflows so customers could connect their accounting stack as part of setup.
  • Led the rebuild of key application surfaces in React, so migration work landed together with new capabilities for retail operators.

Key work: B2B POS for bulk orders, QuickBooks and Tally ERP onboarding, customised invoice templates, and migration from the legacy frontend to React
